Studying while you're busy

Set your pace and quiet hours, pause any time, and fit focused practice into the cracks of a packed week.

The trick to learning a language with a packed schedule isn’t finding a free hour. It’s catching the seconds you already spend on your phone and pointing them at the words you’re learning. Pinguingo is built around that.

Aim for reps, not sessions

Six 30-second touches across a day beat one 30-minute study block, especially for words. Each reply you send (easy, normal, hard) is real practice. That’s what moves a word from “I’ve seen it” to “I can use it.”

Set hours you’ll actually answer in

You pick your active window during setup, and you can change it any time by texting, “only message me between 9 and 6”. Choose the times you check your phone anyway: your commute, lunch, coffee breaks. Outside those hours, Pinguingo stays quiet.

Pick a pace that fits the day

  • Busy days: spread cards further apart, like “send flashcards every 2 hours”. Good for full work days.
  • Lighter days: closer to one an hour, like “every 30 minutes”. Good for evenings, weekends, travel.

Don’t chase the streak

Missed days happen. A card you don’t answer just rolls forward and comes back when it should. There’s nothing to binge and no streak to protect.

Note

If a week looks impossible (exams, a deadline, travel), text “stop for now” to pause instead of letting messages pile up. You’ll come back faster from a clean slate than from a guilt-pile of unread messages. Say “start sending again” when you’re ready.
